The Fire Service dealt with a total 30 fireworks-related incidents in the northern region overnight and two in the wider northern region, most calls from neighbours concerned about bonfires getting out on control.The house was occupied but no one was injured.A second house fire was reported in an unoccupied house in Tokoroa at 4.20am.The fire was also "well involved", but was under control by 6.30am.There were 25 callouts in the Wellington area overnight and a total of 42 in the wider central region.It was a "very very quite night for Guy Fawkes",Christchurch went ahead successfully.Yesterday, The Warehouse issued a warning for people to check Earthshaker boxed fireworks bought from its stores for possible damage.The $200 boxes of fireworks may have been damaged in transit and there was concern that if the individual fireworks had been affected they may be dangerous.The Department of Labour warned fireworks showing any signs of damage – including crushed, torn or dented containers – they should not be set off.
