Lady Antebellum's second album, "Need You Now," crashes in at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, selling 481,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That's the biggest debut sales week for any album since Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" bowed atop the list with 701,000 in November, and the best for a country album since Taylor Swift's "Fearless" opened at No. 1 on the Billboard with 592,000 copies in Nov. 2008.Lady Antebellum's self-titled first album debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 43,000 in its opening week back in May of 2008. This week, in the set's 94th week on the chart, it climbs one spot to No. 15 with 31,000 (up 32%).
The eye-popping sum racked by Lady A's "Need You Now" is also the biggest opening week for an album released in January since the Game's "The Documentary" bowed with 587,000 at No. 1 in 2005. Traditionally, January isn't packed with albums that earn blockbuster debut weeks, as most of the big guns come out in time for the busy November-December holiday shopping season. But for the Capitol Nashville set, all the stars have seemingly aligned.

Lambert will headline Gridlock New Year's Eve concert in Los Angeles, while Gaga will play gig at Fontainebleau in Miami Beach.Adam Lambert may have been dropped from "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest," but the pop star just announced he's got a new gig to ring in the New Year. But if you want to see him play as the clock strikes midnight, then you'd better buy your tickets. The show isn't going to be televised.Lambert is set to play the annual Gridlock New Year's Eve concert in Los Angeles. The show will be hosted by Pamela Anderson. Lambert has been billed as the night's headliner and a Web site for the event notes that Lambert will perform at the stroke of midnight. Kevin Rudolf is also tapped to play the New York-themed bash, which will be held on the Paramount Pictures Studio Backlot.Lambert, who will be playing the Times Square Stage at the show, tweeted, "Unfortunately Gridlocked NYE will NOT be filmed/ televised/ streamed. It's a live event only. Hope to see you there!!"Meanwhile, Lambert collaborator and pop superstar Lady Gaga is currently one of the biggest draws for New Year's Eve. Her gig at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach is currently the hottest New Year's Eve ticket on the market according to NewYearsEve.com, reports "Extra," despite ticket prices that range from $425 to $25,000.Although they'll be spending New Year's Eve apart, Lambert recently spoke to MTV News about hitting the studio with Gaga for his song "Fever" off his album For Your Entertainment. "Gaga! Working in the studio with Gaga was a trip," he said. "The Haus of Gaga came in at the end to say hi. She was just there. We were working with her and Jeff Bhasker and we recorded the song, and she egged me on and it was crazy."Wednesday, December 9, 2009

OTTAWA - She's created a Monster.Lady Gaga's Monster Ball tour steamrolled through Ottawa last night in all its electro-pop, disco-fused glory, giving the near-sellout Scotiabank Place crowd -- brimming with glamour boys and glitter girls -- a chance to break out the hairspray and heels and get their collective freak on.At the centre of the spectacle was the former Stefani Joanne Germanotta -- Lady Gaga herself -- with a trademark sexually charged, innuendo and profanity-laced performance that has vaulted her along a rocket-fuelled voyage to superstardom. No review tickets or photo calls were granted to the press -- usually a troubling sign -- though the immaculately choreographed and visually stunning show dazzled critics on tour-opening stops in Montreal and Toronto over the weekend.Lady Gaga didn't disappoint on her much-anticipated return to the capital, a mere eight months after wowing a relatively minuscule crowd at the Bronson Centre, and after a fall tour stop supporting Kanye West was abruptly cancelled following the rap icon's public flameout at the VMAs.

Kanye West and Lady Gaga's highly anticipated tour is over before it even began.Just days after announcing dates for an ambitious joint show that was to kick off next month, the tour was canceled.Live Nation announced the news in a brief statement Thursday that did not offer any explanation. Refunds are available for those who brought tickets for the tour. It was to kick off Nov. 10 in Phoenix and was scheduled to run through at least January. The name of the tour was to be "Fame Kills" _ a sentiment West may have been feeling in recent weeks. The Grammy-winning rapper has endured a firestorm of negative publicity since he hijacked the award-winning moment of country-pop sweetheart Taylor Swift at last month's MTV Video Music Awards.Publicists for both West and Lady Gaga did not immediately return requests for comment. A representative for Live Nation said there was no further information.Monday, September 28, 2009
