May 11, 2010 — The son of the former leader of the Philippines looks set to win the country's Presidential election. The electoral commission says Senator Benigno Aquino, gained 40 percent of Monday's vote. His main competitor Manny Villar has conceded defeat. Polling day was marred by the deaths of 12 people in election violence.
